growit Training

GETTING STARTED

Start-up training

Includes half a day initial planning visit to school and 3 days in school training

Gain the confidence and skills to set up, plan and manage a school kitchen garden and to run practical gardening sessions with your children.

A half day advisory visit from our expert RHS growit trainer to discuss:

  • garden location, size, construction and layout
  • tools and equipment
  • organization of groups of children in the garden
  • health and safety

And

3 days of expert training delivered in your school by the RHS growit trainer, providing the opportunity for:

  • one to one planning time with your school's growit coordinator
  • modeling of best practice in the garden with groups of children
  • practical training in key horticultural skills for teachers and support staff

Training and teaching resources will be provided with the additional benefit of online support after the training is finished.

*We recommend spreading the training across three terms, allowing each session to be linked to a different season.

*We suggest that the training 'day' runs for an afternoon and after school, allowing more staff to be involved with minimum disruption to your day.
